Organic cotton t-shirts may be more expensive, "they are not as dear as you might think", one reviewer has claimed.
Writing in the Guardian, Kate Carter reports that it is possible to obtain eco-friendly t-shirts - that are also fair trade - from brands such as Gossypium, American Apparel and Marks & Spencer for £10 or less.
She also highlights organic t-shirts made by THTC, Timberland, Colonel Kilgore and Planet Earth.
In related news, Stella McCartney has announced she is to launch a lingerie line made from organic materials.
Due to be on sale in June at Harvey Nichols the underwear range has been made from 100 per cent organic cotton and non-toxic dyes.
"The line features sheer fabrics and a neutral colour palette, with splashes of fresh spring colours like raspberry," reports mpdclick.com.
Items have a hand-stitched effect with silk trim and the line includes triangle and under-wire bras, Smart Planet reports.
