Lego Batman: The Videogame has been given a major prize at the Children’s Bafta awards, the game’s publisher has announced.
Warner Bros Interactive Entertainment has revealed that the title was awarded the Best Videogame 2008 prize at the ceremony, beating off competition from games including Mario Kart Wii and Professor Layton and the Curious Village.
The game is one of several major titles, including Lego Indiana Jones, which the company has released with TT Games this year.
Jonathan Smith, head of production for TT Games, said the company was "absolutely delighted" with the win.
"To get this acknowledgment, here in our home country of the UK, to be acknowledged by the British Academy for the work that everyone’s done on Lego Batman, was really thrilling," he added.
Details about the award win have come after Activision, the company behind the Guitar Hero franchise, announced plans to release a new title featuring popular children’s character Barbie.
Barbie Horse Adventures will be available for consoles including the Nintendo Wii and PlayStation 3.
