Writing for the the Independent, Pete Lawrence of The Sky At Night Magazine, put together a selection of the devices which range from entry-level models, to big boy’s toys.
At the bottom-end of the market is the SkyWatcher Infinity 76P, which costs just £27.
Mr Lawrence states that the device is "the ideal way to introduce a child" to stargazing as it is much better than most toy scopes.
However, those with more cash to spare and who want to get serious about astronomy might want to take a look at the NexStar GCE 1400.
According to Mr Lawernce, the £6,349 device is used by some of the world’s top lunar and planetary imagers to produce detailed pictures of Earth’s near neighbours.
