Transformers game in development

Activision has announced that it is developing a new game based on the forthcoming sequel to the Transformers film.

The software publisher has revealed that Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen will give players the chance to play as either the warring Autobots and Decepticons in an original storyline inspired by the forthcoming motion picture.

No details about the game’s release date have yet been announced, although it has been confirmed it will be available for the Xbox 360, Nintendo Wii and DS, PlayStation 2 and 3, PSP and PC.

Rob Kostich, vice-president of global brand management for Activision, said the title would include "explosive action that only the Transformers universe can deliver".

He added: "We are thrilled to announce that after experiencing the rush of commanding colossal robots on their own, players can challenge their friends for the first time ever in full-featured, blistering multiplayer action as their favourite characters."

Sega recently announced that it is set to release a game based on upcoming film Iron Man 2 next year.
