Speculation has emerged on the internet that Metallica are to be the next major rock band to have a Guitar Hero game dedicated to them.
According to a number sources online, an analyst for Wedbush Morgan Securities spotted information about the forthcoming game on an SEC filing.
It is thought that the release will be the fourth game in Activision’s popular video games franchise to be launched this year, along with a special Aerosmith edition.
Edward Woo, the analyst who allegedly saw the publisher’s filing , the document stated: "In fiscal 2009, we plan to publish Guitar Hero: On Tour for the NDS; Guitar Hero: Aerosmith, Guitar Hero: Metallica, and Guitar Hero IV across multiple platforms."
The end of the fiscal year would be March 31st next year.
Speculation about the release has come after Xbox 360 Europe announced plans to hold several events to celebrate one of Guitar Hero’s biggest rivals, Rock Band.
Players of the game in Germany, France and the UK will have a chance to show off their skills on the release in an effort to win a luxury holiday in Ibiza.
