A sequel to last year’s acclaimed title Battlefield: Bad Company is in development, it has emerged.
Electronic Arts studio Dice has revealed it is working on the game, which will see players carry out missions that take in snowy mountaintops, dense jungles and dusty villages.
However, the firm has revealed that before that game is released for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC, a new multiplayer title is being made available for download this summer.
Battlefield 1943, which uses the same engine as the anticipated sequal, is expected to offer players action over three locations including Iwo Jima and Guadalcanal.
Karl Magnus Troedsson, executive producer of the Battlefield franchise for Dice, said the download is "a new take on a blast from the past classic coming to life with brand new technology that we’re eager to get into players hands".
Eidos Interactive recently announced that Shellshock: Nam ‘67 is set to be available in Europe from February 13th.
