Video games maker Activision is to release Transformers Animated, a new title based on Cartoon Network’s television series of the same name.
Due to be on sale in October for the Nintendo DS, the game challenges players to teamwork-based puzzles as they take control of a range of Autobot characters including Optimus Prime, Bumblebee, Bulkhead and Prowl.
Gamers must blast Decepticon-controlled hoverbots and "race through the motorways of a futuristic Detroit, dodging on-coming traffic while seamlessly changing between robot and vehicle-from", Activision said.
They can switch "instantly" between Autobot team members to utilise their unique weapons and skills to overcome challenges, the company added.
In other video games news, developer Square Enix has released Space Invaders Extreme for the Nintendo DS and PlayStation Portable across Europe.
DS gamers are able to challenge others at the game via Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection and add their results to an online high-score table.
