Video games maker Sega has unveiled two new Sonic the Hedgehog titles at the E3 industry trade show.
Due to be released in the autumn for the Nintendo DS, Sonic Chronicles: The Dark Brotherhood sees the hedgehog and his friends battle a "menacing new enemy" in the franchise’s first role-playing game.
In Sonic Unleashed, available for the PlayStation 2 and 3, XBox 360 and Wii this summer, Sonic must help to restore the planet after a slumbering beast from the centre of the Earth is awakened by Dr Eggman.
Other Sega games on display at the Los Angeles summit include MadWorld, Alpha Protocol, Dinosaur King, Empire: Total Ware and Golden Axe: Beast Rider.
"Our E3 line-up showcases a range of top-flight franchises that will resonate with diverse audiences of gamers around the world," remarked Sean Ratcliffe, vice-president of marketing at Sega of America.
Meanwhile, Disney has unveiled a collection of new titles it claims will appeal to the whole family, including interactive music video game Ultimate Band, at the E3 trade show.
