Gwen Stefani is to redesign Dorothy’s red shoes from the Wizard of Oz.
The singer is one of 19 designers chosen by Warner Bros Consumer Products and Swarovski Elements to interpret the iconic ruby slippers to commemorate the family film epic’s 70th anniversary next year.
Other designers selected for the project include Alberta Ferretti, Christian Louboutin, Jimmy Choo, Oscar de la Renta and Diane von Furstenberg.
The Wizard of Oz Ruby Slipper Collection will be unveiled department store Saks Fifth Avenue in New York on September 4th before being showcased as part of New York Fashion Week.
Ahead of being auctioned off for charity, the 19 pairs of shoes will tour the US.
Steffani’s design will be created under her fashion line L.A.M.B - an acronym of her debut solo album Love.Angel.Music.Baby.
Proceeds from the shoes will be donated to the Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric Aids Foundation.
