The vice-president and general manager of Electronics Arts UK has warned gamers that new title Dead Space "isn’t for kids".
Keith Ramsdale has made the comment to remind parents that the new survival horror game, which is available in stores from today for the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and PC, carries an 18 rating.
Set in the future, the game follows the efforts of man as he attempts to fight against an alien presence.
Discussing the title, Mr Ramsdale said: "We recognise the need to help British parents better understand the age rating system for video games, and 18 means a game is not appropriate for minors.
"But for adult gamers who crave gruesome action in a survival horror fiction, Dead Space promises to be a big hit."
Ascaron recently confirmed that role-playing game Sacred 2: Fallen Angel will be released for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 at some point during the first three months of 2009.
