It has been revealed that over 1.5 million copies of Warriors Orochi have been shipped by games developer Koei.
The release, which has seemingly proved popular with gamers across the globe, is a crossover release featuring characters from the company’s Dynasty Warriors and Samurai Warriors games.
Available for the PSP, XBox 360, PC and PlayStation 2, the game allows players to use a range of fighting skills to battle forces of evil.
Koei’s senior vice-president Amos Ip said that the sales milestone was a "significant testament" to the popularity and admiration felt about its featured characters.
"As we celebrate, I would like to recognize and express our thanks to the video game world’s greatest fans for making this achievement possible."
The games publisher recently announced plans to launch a sequel to the game in the US in September.
Warriors Orochi 2, which features 90 characters and a new two-player mode, will be available for both the XBox 360 and the PlayStation 2.
