The corset is back in fashion, according to a leading expert.
Samantha Critchell from Associated Press has reported that corsets are all the rage on the catwalks during New York Fashion Week.
Designers Monique Lhuillier and Cynthia Steffe, together with fashion houses Luca Luca and Gottex have all had models wearing the structured corset during their shows this week.
Raul Melgoza, new creative director for Luca Luca said the corsets help to capture the "shapely spirit" of a woman.
He added they are "long-lasting" designs and help to create the "perfect silhouette".
According to the writer, Mr Melgoza also created a pair of satin corset shorts which go halfway up a woman’s midriff.
It was recently revealed that a black tasselled corset as worn by Madonna in her Open Your Heart video will features among a collection of her film and stage costumes to be exhibited at the Truman Brewery in London next year.
