David Bowie fans are in for a treat with the announcement that the singer is to release a live album.
The NME reports that ‘David Bowie, Live Santa Monica ‘72′ will be released on June 30th on CD and double vinyl.
The recording is from a gig that was part of his Ziggy Stardust US tour and, speaking to the magazine, Bowie stated that fans of that period of his career should expect an audio delight.
"I can tell that I’m totally into being Ziggy by this stage of our touring. It’s no longer an act; I am him.
"This would be around the tenth American show for us and you can hear that we are all pretty high on ourselves," he said.
Bowie added that the recording is one that has a special place in his heart.
A mainstay of the British music scene for almost 40 years, Bowie has already released a number of live albums including ‘Bowie at the Beeb’, which featured his session recording for BBC radio.
