Fujitsu has unveiled what it claims to be the world’s first fingerprint-enabled waterproof mobile phone.
The company’s new F-01A handset includes technology provided by AuthenTec that is designed to improve its security, while it also boasts a 3.5-inch touchscreen display and a 5.2-megapixel camera.
Built-in GPS technology for use with Google Maps is also on offer, alongside a mobile TV tuner, and a Symbian operating system.
Katsumi Takada, general manager for Fujitsu’s mobile phone division, said the waterproof capability would give users "peace of mind".
He added that the device "combines next generation, all-inclusive entertainment with the convenient security of an AuthenTec fingerprint sensor".
Nokia recently unveiled a new mobile phone bundle designed for those looking to enjoy a healthy lifestyle.
The new Active package includes the company’s N79 handset, as well as a wireless Polar Bluetooth WearLink heart rate belt that can be used to keep track of a person’s fitness.
