The new Pre mobile phone is a "return to form" for its manufacturer Palm, it has been claimed.
According to Thomas Newton of mobile-phones.co.uk, the company was one of the "early pioneers" of the personal digital assistant (PDA) devices, but has since seen its popularity fall due to the release of systems such as the iPhone.
However, he added that the company’s new handset, which includes a 3.1-inch touchscreen display and integrated GPS, is set to boost interest in the firm’s work.
Mr Newton explained: "The Palm Pre represents a return to form for one of the early pioneers of the PDA market.
"The Palm OS retains a loyal following, and the Pre, which comes fully loaded with the new Palm Web OS looks set to reverse the fortunes of the company."
Fujitsu recently launched a new fingerprint-enabled waterproof mobile phone.
The F-01A, which also features a 3.5-inch touchscreen display and a 5.2-megapixel camera, includes the fingerprint technology for security purposes.
