Reports have emerged that software company Microsoft may launch a mobile phone based on its Zunemp3 player at a major industry event next year.
It has been suggested by Trip Chowdry from Global Equities Research that the handset, which will also include motion enhancement features similar to the iPhone, is set to be unveiled at the Consumer Electronics Show in January.
Talking to Barron’s Tech Trader Daily website, the expert’s claims back up predictions that the company are working on a handset with the codename Project Pink.
According to Mr Chowdry, the phone will be one of several launches announced by the company’s chief executive officer Steve Ballmer at the event.
It was recently announced that a new freeware application designed to turn the iPod Touch into a mobile phone has been launched.
According to the BBC, Truphone has released the software, which allows users to make calls to other Touch owners over the device’s in-built Wi-Fi technology.
