The latest jewellery trend is not earrings, bracelets or necklaces, but eye accessories, it has been reported.
According to the Times, crystals or tiny flowers which dangle from contact lenses on medical wire and look like tears from a distance are proving very popular.
The creations are aimed at contact wearers and hang from the lenses, while for people with perfect vision they can be attached to a prescription-free lens.
Speaking to the newspaper, Eric Klarenbeek, the Dutch designer, said: "People who have worn my eye jewellery are amazed at its comfort.
"You can’t feel the wire dangling, it doesn’t affect your sight and the lens moves along gently with your eyeball, even while blinking."
The pieces cost approximately £200 for an accessories set complete with lens.
Meanwhile, a new jewellery line by Giles Deacon is available on the high street at H Samuels.
According to Retail Jeweller, the designs include rings, pendants and earrings which all have Swarovski crystals.
