People have been urged by an interior designer to plan ahead when renovating or picking furniture for a kitchen.
US-based expert Lin Lee has stated that forward planning about space can help people to "maximise efficiency and productivity.
In an interview with HGTV.com, she also explained that people should carefully consider the cabinets they choose to install in their cooking areas.
She advised: "Don’t take off and install cabinets that have a completely different look and feel from the other rooms in your home, whether it’s contemporary, traditional or transitional."
Ms Lee added that placing glass doors on cupboards can also make them look more modern.
Earlier this year, Westinghouse unveiled a new 16-inch LCD TV designed for use in rooms with limited space such as kitchens.
The company’s PT-16H610S is mounted on an adjustable bezel which includes a hinge, meaning it could be placed on a wall or under a cabinet.
It also features HDMI connectivity and a 1080p resolution.
