Modular seating furniture can be "great" for those with open-plan homes, according to a writer.
Katrina Burroughs of The Times has stated that the trend, which is increasingly common in the sofa market, allows people to "jigsaw together" furniture and can be useful for those with narrow doorways.
Writing for the national newspaper, she also described finding the ideal sofa as "the holy grail of soft furnishings" and revealed what related topic tends to divide people more than any other.
She explained: "For afficionados, however, no subject occupies more bandwidth than cushion filling.
"Foam keeps its shape better, but feathers are softer, with more satisfying bottom-sink."
Leading furniture manufacturer De La Espada recently unveiled its new Autoban box sofa.
According to online guide Retrotogo.com, the furniture is inspired by 1950s style and is available in both a compact and large version.
It is believed that the sofa, which can be bought in two colours, is set to retail from £2,245.
