Consumers have been urged by an expert to ensure that their patio and garden furniture features "timeless designs".
Michael Vuksta, vice-president of retailer President’s Choice Home, has also stated that people should buy items that mix a number of materials to create visual interest, as well as those that will withstand all types of weather.
In an interview with Homemakers.com, he also warned people to ensure that they "keep comfort in mind" when buying outdoor furniture.
He added to the website: "This season, it’s all about bringing the comforts of indoors to outdoor living and entertaining.
"It’s about creating outdoor rooms that are both stylish and comfortable."
Mr Vuksta’s comments come after Bunny Guinness, a judge at the recent Chelsea Flower Show, revealed which pieces of garden furniture at the event caught her eye.
Writing for the Daily Telegraph, she stated that items by Garden Iron, Raw Studio and Holloway were some of the best examples exhibited at the annual show.
