A UK design company has created a new chair made entirely out of recycled games consoles.
Pli Design, based in London, is set to unveil the Reee Chair, which has a plastic seat and back made from 100 per cent recycled Playstation 2 consoles.
According to the firm, the chair will be made available for contract, education and domestic markets and began full-scale production in July.
Pli has worked with Sony Computer Entertainment on the product, each of which used 2.4 kg of recycled plastic derived from the manufacturers multi-million selling console.
Alex Whitney, Pli’s design manager, said: "The simple idea behind the Reee chair is to produce a recycled furniture product in the UK that has style, function and durability but does not compromise environmental credentials – so our customers don’t have to compromise theirs".
Gizmodo.com recently reported that designer Ross McBride has created the Time Table, which turns a normal table into a huge digital watch at the flick of a switch.
