Microsoft’s Zune is the most likely mp3 player to be able to take on Apple’s iPods during the festive season, it has been reported.
Despite being the leader of the pack of many mp3 players on the market chasing the iPod, the Zune has some catching up to do yet, according to Seeking Alpha.
The online publication claims that the latest traffic figures from manufacturers’ websites suggest the Apple device attracted twice as much interest as the Zune over the course of the past year.
It adds that the iPod got a bigger festive boost online last Christmas as online traffic boomed by 80 per cent in December 2007.
"Getting the Zune in more consumers’ hands is made more difficult by the fact that the iPod is a sub-brand of an iconic brand and part of a suite of compatible products that project the same image. Zune, as a brand, is not in the same league - at least, not yet," the report concluded.
CNN described Apple’s fourth generation iPod Nano as its best yet.
