People with a green conscience might be interested to hear that running a laptop during the evening reduces the amount of energy used compared to a desktop computer, it has been reported.
According to the Bucks Free Press, consumers can use three-quarters less energy by operating a laptop instead of a desktop, which will also save money during the credit crunch.
"So far I have worked out that it costs 15 pence to run my desktop computer each evening while my laptop uses only 4 pence. Now I use only my laptop after all it’s just as good as my desktop and uses just a quarter of the electricity," the report notes.
The report also claims that TV and videos use one kilowatt of electricity over the course of a week when left on standby so people are advised to turn such devices off at the plug when they are not in use.
