Sony has showcased its new range of ultra-thin TVs at a major event in Japan this week.
Exhibited at the Display 2008 event in the country, the company’s next-generation XEL-1 display is 0.3 millimetres thick, while it also features a screen size of 11 inches.
According to TrustedReviews, the equipment which powers the 940 x 540 resolution TV is not included within the display itself, being stored in a separate piece of hardware instead.
The website has not reported any release dates for the ultra-thin system, but it revealed its hopes that the product will not just be released in the US and Japan like the original version of the display.
It was recently reported by HDTVTest.co.uk that Sony is launching a new range of LCD TVs in the UK.
The new products, which include the KDL40W4000, are to be released from next month and will feature technology which makes the systems compatible with forthcoming terrestrial HDTV.
