A leading electronics manufacturer has revealed that one of its LCD TVs has been praised for its green credentials by an industry publication.
Toshiba’s 42-inch Regza system has been given the GreenTech Approved HDTV award from PC Magazine for its low power consumption and efficiency when tested.
According to the publication, both the models analysed and their manufacturers need to show some evidence of environmental responsibility to be recognised with the award.
Maria Repole, assistant vice-president of corporate communications at Toshiba, said the firm was "extremely excited" to be given the prize.
"Toshiba is making sustainability a priority and is striving to manufacture environmentally friendly products, without sacrificing picture quality, in order to deliver true value to consumers," she added.
Praise for the Regza systems has come after Toshiba launched new versions of the models which can upscale standard definition images to a higher quality.
The Regza ZV model also includes integrated digital tuners and three HDMI ports.
