A new two-way internet-enabled GPS device has been unveiled by TeleNav.
The company’s new Shotgun system is designed to keep motorists fully updated with the state of play on roads through the web connection, which will provide access to both map updates and traffic delays.
It also includes around 11 million points of interest, as well as updated information on petrol prices.
HP Jin, president and co-founder of TeleNav, said using a GPS device without internet capabilities was similar to using "a laptop without an internet connection".
"It limits you to information that resides on the device. Business travellers need to stay connected in order to stay productive and up-to-date," he added.
Last week, Navigon launched two brand new GPS devices with a variety of features.
The company’s 5100 Max and 2090S systems both feature Lane Assistant Pro and Reality View software, as well as advanced text-to-speech capabilities.
In addition, the former includes a 4.3-inch display, while the latter includes a 3.5-inch screen.
