Devices created by companies including Samsung, Sharp and Toshiba have been named in a new survey as some of the most eco-friendly on the market.
In its poll, environmental campaign group Greenpeace analysed a range of electronic products using a number of criteria and found that Sharp’s LC-52GX5 was the highest-rated TV.
Samsung’s F268 mobile phone also performed well when tested, alongside Toshiba’s Portege R600 laptop.
Casey Harrell, a toxics campaigner for Greenpeace International, said the overall survey revealed that the electronics industry is "heading in the right direction".
He added: "The scores are higher and closer together this year, suggesting a more competitive race to green gadgets, but consumers are still having to choose between gadgets that are green in one way but grey in another."
Praise for eco-friendly devices has come after Panasonic’s 2009 Viera HDTV G10-series was named the best TV by CNet judges attending the recent Consumer Electronics Show.
