Apple has added spoken menus to their fourth generation iPod Nano, according to one technology news website.
CNet.com reports the firm is one of the first to "dramatically improve" usability of its mp3 players for vision-impaired users.
"The iPod Nano’s spoken menus option literally speaks menu and song selections to you in a synthesised voice, making it possible to navigate your iPod completely by sound," reviewer Donald Bell wrote.
Mr Bell explained users wanting to enable this feature must install iTunes 8 and then enable spoken menus on the iPod summary page in iTunes on their computer.
The computer will then take a moment to read the contents of the iPod and generate the necessary voice cues and sync them back to the iPod, he adds.
Voice settings can also be tweaked to change the speed and character of the voice.
Meanwhile, it was reported by PC World that the second generation iPod Touch has added speaker and volume controls.
