Global electronics firm Sony has announced plans to launch a new range of LCD TVs designed to use less power than standard alternatives.
The company has confirmed that its new V5 series is set to consist of both a 40 and 46-inch system that are set to consume around 200 watts less energy than its V1 series.
It has also been revealed that the sets will include new sensor technology which will take note of when people are watching content on it.
However, if people leave the room with the TV still on, the hardware is designed to automatically switch the system off.
No details have yet been revealed about when the new V series will be launched in the UK.
Sony recently also unveiled a new range of cord-free mp3 players.
The company’s W-series Walkman devices include 2GB of storage and are worn around the back of the neck like sports headphones.
