Sony has announced it is to increase its production of Bravia LCD TVs in order to meet demand for the products across Europe.
The electronics company has announced that it is to double the amount of sets manufactured at its factory in Slovakia this year to four million by the end of December.
Expected to make Sony the largest producer of LCD TVs in the world, the move will also mean that the company has to increase the number of employees at the facility by 50 per cent.
Fujio Nishida, president of Sony Europe, said: "Sales of Bravia are continuing to grow in double-digits in many countries across Europe.
"The expansion in Nitra clearly demonstrates our determination to ensure that Bravia’s excellent viewing experience is available to all our customers across Europe - east and west."
Earlier this month, Sony announced the launch of its Bravia E4000 series, which consists of 26, 32 and 42-inch HD televisions designed to be wall-mounted.
