Satnav buyers ‘have plenty to consider’

Satnav buyers 'have plenty to consider'Those planning to buy a GPS device either for themselves or as a gift need to bear several factors in mind, according to an expert.

Rob Mead of leading gadget website TechRadar.com has suggested that motorists need to think about what exactly they plan to use their satnav for, as well as what additional features they may need.

He said that while some people may find it "tempting" to buy the best model they can afford, they should consider what maps are included and whether they are needed.

Writing on the website, he explained that the TomTom Go 940 Live features maps for Western and Eastern Europe, the USA and Canada, but added it is "not worth paying the premium" if some of the information will not be used regularly.

Mr Mead added that some people also may not have a use for devices which feature space for storing music or photos.

Advice for those looking to buy GPS devices has come after Garmin’s Nuvi 265T was described in a review by PC Advisor as a "full-featured" satnav.
