The new LE40A558 LCD TV from Samsung has been referred to in a review as ideal for those looking for "raw screen size".
John Archer of TrustedReviews has said that the 40-inch display featured on the model meant it could be more attractive to consumers than many of its "cheap and cheerful rivals".
He added that the pictures created on the system are also "actually very good" for such an "affordable" TV.
"Black levels, for instance, are unusually deep and neutral in tone, suffering far less with the customary greyness than the vast majority of similarly priced competitors," he explained.
The model was also found to display "very impressive" colours during testing.
Praise for the Samsung LE40A558 has come after Philips recently launched its new Cinema 21:9 LCD TV.
The system, which has been created to suit the aspect ratio included in its name, is designed to provide users with a cinematic experience when watching films.
