The PDP-LX5090D from Pioneer has been described in a new review as "a staggering capable TV".
Stuff.tv has given the 50-inch plasma TV its ‘Best Buy’ rating and also claimed it to be "one of the best televisions ever made".
A number of features included on the model were recognised by the technology website, with the Freeview tuner included on the system getting particular praise for being "excellent".
It also had good things to say about its ability to display Blu-ray images, saying: "Things obviously step up a notch.
"Here, contrast performance is fabulous, with dense, consistently inky blacks than outgun any rival, yet which never mask crucial details hidden in the shadows."
The site also claimed that the only particularly downside of the PDP-LX5090D is its price tag of around £2,500.
Praise for the plasma TV has come after John Archer of TrustedReviews claimed that Panasonic’s Viera TH-42PZ800 is "a terrific performer".
