A leading electronics firm has unveiled its new flagship Blu-ray player.
The high-end BDP- LX91 from Pioneer features a 16-bit video engine that the company claims can produce "impeccable" video decoding, while the system can also upscale DVDs to a resolution of 1080p.
In addition, it features HDMI 48-Bit Deep Colour technology, while its audio specifications include 7.1 channel Dolby TrueHD and DTS-HD decoding technology.
Users with an Ethernet connection can also connect the system to enjoy the BD-Live service, which could give them access to online gaming and chat, as well as exclusive interactive content.
No price details for the new device have yet been confirmed.
Details of the Blur-ray player have been released after Pioneer confirmed it will no longer be producing any LaserDisc players.
The company has claimed that the growing popularity of both DVD and Blu-ray have made it more difficult for it to buy parts needed for the production of the devices.
