A leading global electronics manufacturer has launched a new digital camera.
Panasonic has claimed that its new Lumix DMC-G1 device is both the world’s smallest and lightest digital camera which includes an interchangeable lens system.
According to the company, the use of the Micro Four Thirds technology on the camera has also reduced its size and weight by around 50 per cent.
The 12.1-megapixel device includes a Live MOS Sensor, as well as Venus Engine HD, a Supersonic Wave Filter Dust Reduction System and HDMI output.
David Briganti, national marketing manager for Panasonic’s imaging arm, said that the model would fill a void that has "existed for a long time" in the market.
"Consumers can benefit from the flexibility of changing lenses; a quick Auto Focus; and a sensor that produces high-quality photos," he added.
Sony recently launched a new 24.6 effective megapixel digital camera.
The company’s A900 system includes a three-inch Xtra Fine LCD screen and nine-point AF for quick accuracy.
