The TomTomGO 930 GPS focuses "energy on navigation tools that will help the driver", one reviewer has claimed.
Writing for CNet, Bonnie Cha reports that the device includes new functions such as advanced lane guidance, voice address entry and route planning based on historical traffic data.
The portable navigation system also offers text-to-speech functionality, Bluetooth and accurate directions, she continues.
"If you’re in the market for a high-end, feature-packed GPS, the TomTom GO 930 is a solid choice," the expert adds.
Priced at $499.95 (£250) the compact GPS system is 3.3 inches tall by 4.7 inches wide by one inch thick.
Meanwhile, tests conducted by Consumer Reports have found established GPS brands such as Garmin, TomTom and Magellan are still producing the best devices.
After several months of in-lab and on-the-road tests of 39 GPS systems, the review publication rated the Garmin Nuvi 760 as the best giving it an "Excellent" overall score.
