A new range of GPS devices designed specifically for hunters and hikers has been launched by Garmin.
The company’s new eTrex Legend H and eTrex Vista H both feature a highly-sensitive receiver designed to gain a signal lock in both dense forest areas and vertical canyons.
Each of the systems also includes a USB interface and 24MB of internal memory to hold topo maps downloaded from a computer.
Dan Bartel, vice-president of worldwide sales for Garmin, said the original versions of the two models have "long been considered standard equipment for anyone who wants to make the most of their outdoor excursions".
He added: "Now, entry-level customers can get some of the latest features for the same price as the previous versions, making the units attractive for those wanting a rugged and reliable GPS."
Garmin recently released a software update designed for use with its models for motoring.
The ecoRoute application allows drivers to learn the fuel cost of a journey before the begin driving.
