A reviewer has praised Garmin’s Nuvi 885T as a successful update of the company’s now-discontinued 880 device.
Craig Ellison of PC Magazine said the high-end GPS device shows that the manufacturer has managed to improve on previous impressive efforts without harming what made them so acclaimed.
The 885T features enhanced weather tracking and a flight status feature, but it was the voice recognition capabilities that the writer described as "the most compelling".
"About the only thing you can’t input by voice is text (specific address information, for example); for this you need to use the on-screen keyboard," he wrote on the website.
"Like its predecessor, the 885T is surprisingly accurate at recognising spoken words - especially since you don’t have to train the device."
Garmin recently revealed that it has entered into a new partnership with computer manufacturer Asus.
The companies are set to collaborate on a new range of mobile handsets known as the Garmin-Asus Nuvifone series.
