The new menu system on the Sony Bravia KDL-40W4000 has been praised in a review for being "well designed and incredibly responsive".
Ian Morris from technical website CNet.co.uk has said that he was "impressed" by the system, which offers options relevant to what is being watched on the screen.
Speaking about the image quality on the KDL-40W4000, the reviewer described it as a "strong performer, especially with high definition material.
During test on Blu-ray copies of Rollerball and Jurassic Park, Mr Morris claims that the images showed a "staggering amount of detail" and "looked very impressive indeed".
"Freeview too managed to look pretty decent," he added.
"We watched a worrying amount of Jeremy Kyle, and the over-done lipstick on the hapless losers, sorry, participants looked exactly as it would if you bumped into them in the dole queue."
Techradar.com recently praised the Philips 32PFL9603D LCD TV in a review for producing "stunning quality" pictures.
