Mitsubishi launches LaserVue TV

Mitsubishi launches LaserVue TVMitsubishi has announced the brand name of its new laser TV - the first of its kind in the world.

According to the company, LaserVue will provide "a true dimension experience" by producing twice the colour spectrum of LCD and Plasma TVs, EE Times reports.

Laser beams will produce a wide range of colours with greater clarity and depth of field.

Laser TVs are also better for the environment, consuming around half the power of modern LCD TVs and approximately a third of the power consumption of plasma models.

Frank DeMartin, vice president of marketing at Mitsubishi Digital Electronics America, said: "Mitsubishi has created a new category in television with laser technology and now we are creating an exciting new brand, LaserVue, which we believe consumers come to equate with the industry’s best performing televisions."

Under development for several years, the technology is expected to be delivered to retailers in the autumn.
