Sony is set to unveil its new digital camera with the ability to record high definition video footage.
The Cyber-shot DSC-T500 is a ten megapixel device which can record movies in 720 pixels at 30 frames per second.
Sony claims that the resolution is three times advanced than standard-definition movies.
The device can film a video clip of up to ten minutes in lengths, according to the manufacturer, and also features a dual mode where users can capture photos while in movie mode with "no recording interruption".
Phil Lubell, director of digital camera marketing at Sony Electronics, said: " Our research revealed that people like to shoot video with their point-and-shoot cameras, but were very dissatisfied with the video quality and the resulting large files.
"Our new T500 fulfills this customer need for a digital camera that delivers high-quality movies in a small form factor."
Sony recently launched its thinnest ever digital camera, the DSC-T77 which measures less than 13.9 millimetres thick.
