A leading technology website claims that the Sony HDR-TG3E camcorder is "good value indeed".
In a review by Techradar.com, the device was praised for its competitive price, impressive quality video and great touchscreen.
The Sony HDR-TG3E is built to allow for flexibility, with the "solid build" and "flip and twist" motion of the LCD screen meaning you hold the device vertically.
All of the functions on the camcorder are controlled by touchscreen technology, which the site describes as "more successful than rival systems" and comes complete with a 4GB Memory Stick Duo card as standard.
The site added that it was "impressed" by the quality of movies shot during testing.
"No doubt the Carl Zeiss Vario-Tessar lens played its part, but the Sony Intelligent Face Detection system also did a ?ne job," it said.
"We could see it working as it placed a white box around as many as eight faces in each scene."
Techradar.com also recently praised the Panasonic HDC-SD9 for its "impressive specifications", but described its controls as "rather fiddly".
