The Panasonic HDC-SD9 has been praised by a technology website for its "impressive specifications".
According to techradar.com, the camcorder contains many features for a device of its small size.
The HDC-SD9 can record full high definition pictures at a rate of to 1,080 pixels, with four different quality settings for users to choose from.
It also records in 5.1 surround sound, which the reviewer describes as "impressive" and gives the camera "great potential".
The site did note that it found some of the controls "rather fiddly" with it difficult to press the buttons while looking into the device’s screen.
"When we were shooting video it was all too easy to induce the ‘Camera panning is too fast’ message on the screen," writes the site.
"However the HDC-SD9 is a joy to use and feels really good in your hand."
Panasonic recently unveiled two new Blu-ray players, the DMP-BD35 and DMP-BD55 which it claims produce the "ultimate movie-viewing experience".
