Apple’s new Nano 4G is the range’s best offering yet, according to one technology news website.
CNet reports the new mp3 player is an attractive range which comes in nine different colours and in 8GB and 16GB models.
The device is priced from $149 (£75) to $199 and raises the mp3 player bar "once again".
"Compared with the short, squarish design of last year’s Nano, the long, tapered body of the fourth-generation Nano is more comfortable to grasp," reviewer Donald Bell states.
He added the Nano 4G feels "impossibly" light and thin and has a "seamless" metal construction that prevents it from snapping like a twig.
The device offers the usual music, video and podcast playback as well as extras including photos, a calendar, games, alarms, contacts, notes, clocks and the Genius feature which enables users to create a 25-song playlist by selecting one track.
Apple was co-founded in 1976 by its present chief executive officer Steve Jobs.
