The second generation iPod Touch has added speaker and volume controls, according to one technology news website.
PC World reports the latest device is also available for a lower price as the 8GB model costs $229 (£115), 16GB is $299 and the 32GB will set users back $399 down from the previous price of $499.
Reviewer Melissa J Perenson wrote the mp3 player continues to share many characteristics with the first-generation model and the iPhone 3G as they all have a "bright, gorgeous", 3.5-inch, wide-screen multitouch display with 480-by-320-pixel resolution.
"Playing music remains a breeze. Press the home button below the display to activate the screen, and then select music from the dedicated buttons along the bottom of the screen," she adds.
Ms Perenson continues that the new Touch also features a speaker on the base of the unit and Apple claims the battery life is "significantly" better going from 22 hours to 36 hours.
It is reported by mp3.com that consumers with the first generation iPod Touch can upgrade their device’s software to include the new iTunes Genius setting.
