Toshiba has launched its new Portege R500-S5007V laptop, which includes a 128GB solid state drive (SSD).
Described by the company as one of the thinnest and lightest portable computers available, the model features a DVD SuperMulti drive and a widescreen 12.1-inch LED backlit display.
It also has over eight hours of battery life and is recommended for use with Windows Vista.
Jeff Barney, general manager and vice-president of Toshiba America Information Systems’ digital products division, said the Portege R500 series "has served as a technology launching pad and redefined the ultra-portable marketplace".
He added that the use of the SSD in the new model was "another major accomplishment" that "illustrates how the company is committed to delivering solutions that meet the needs of our customers".
Toshiba has also recently announced the launch of its Qosmio G55, X305 and F55 laptops.
According to the company, the systems have been designed for those who "enjoy gaming, multimedia and advanced mobility technology".
