Toshiba has showed off a prototype of its new "fast-charging" Super Charge Ion Batteries (SCiB) laptop battery this week, according to one technology news website.
InfoWorld reports the firm claims the technology is a while off being ready to be used in computers but the SCiB battery is designed to recharge to 90 per cent capacity within ten minutes.
The report states the batteries will last longer and endure more recharge cycles than current lithium-ion batteries in use today.
A spokesperson for the company told the website the new batteries can endure more than ten times the number of recharge cycles compared to lithium-ion ones.
Meanwhile, CNet reports the firm’s Satelitte Pro U400-S1001 is a "well-rounded" laptop that will withstand the "rigors of business travel".
Reviewer Matthew Elliott claims the notebook has a "sturdy and attractive design" and can charge USB devices, "even when off".
The firm claims it has operated in the UK for more than 30 years and employs around 4,000 people nationwide.
