The Samsung R700 T8100 laptop will do "everything you ask of it", according to one reviewer.
Writing for CNet.co.uk, Rory Reid explained that while the laptop is not the most advanced available it is perfect for those on a budget.
He said: "It is well-built, has a good keyboard, and ultimately proves fantastic value for money."
The laptop’s keyboard is also "phenomenally comfortable" to use, with the keys being large and well spaced, he added.
It also comes with the wireless technology that is now standard and has Windows Vista Home Premium preinstalled, Mr Reid points out.
The laptop features a 17-inch screen which means that people with poor eyesight "needn’t squint", he concluded.
However, the new PC will have to compete for a slice of the market with the Sony Vaio VGN-FZ31Z.
According to PC Pro, the new top of the range Vaio looks the part and is also compatible with Blu-ray DVD.
