Dell is set to be the latest firm to add extra security to its laptops, it has been revealed.
The firm is to include technology from Absolute Software which will help owners track their device if it is stolen and can even delete sensitive data if the laptop is connected to the internet while missing, reports the Associated Press (AP).
Dell claims that this removal of files would happen without the finder knowing it was going on, the website states.
According to the news provider, the security technology firm already provides services to Hewlett-Packard, Lenovo, Panasonic, Fujitsu and Toshiba.
Dell expects the service to cost business customers less than $100 (£50) a year, AP adds.
The website also reports the findings of a Ponemon Institute survey which reveals half of business travellers carry sensitive data on their laptops.
Last week, Dell unveiled its new line of Studio laptops which, according to Engadget, feature software similar to that found on Apple products.
