Asus is experimenting with a number of strange materials for creating laptops, according to one expert.
Writing for the Guardian, Jack Schofield explains that the firm has used bamboo to case a prototype device.
He says: "These should stand out from the crowd - being distinctive both for Asus and its customers - and could therefore appeal to more upmarket users."
As well as this, the firm has been working on leather laptops for a number of years, Mr Schofield states.
These are nicer to use than plastic and metal notebooks he adds.
Asus offers a number of computers in its Eee PC range and according to the firm they are all easy to use and feature a rapid start-up time, meaning people can get to grips with them straight away.
Built-in Wi-Fi means that user can access the internet wherever there is an internet hotspot when using an Eee PC.
